Elsie Louise Schlosser Seneta

Elsie Louise Schlosser Seneta, age 76, formerly of Cranesville, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Vincent Health Center. Born July 30, 1937, in Mosiertown, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Grace Roberts Schlosser.

Elsie was a 1954 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and had been employed as a secretary at various business offices in Meadville and Albion. She retired after 23 years of service in the guidance office at Northwestern Senior High School. She wrote a weekly column, “Cranesville Chatter”, for the Albion News for several years. Elsie enjoyed bowling in several ladies and mixed leagues plus city and state tournaments. She and her husband Orest were known throughout the area for their love of polka and variety dancing. Music by Orest’s band, “The Mastertones”, graced her life. She attended the Federated Church of East Springfield for many years and also attended the United Methodist Church in Cranesville.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Orest Seneta in 2006; two infant sisters, Reatha and Leatha Schlosser; a son-in-law, Kirk Connors; seven brothers-in-law, Art Miller; Andy, Eugene and Zeno Seneta; John Ryan, Henry Boraten and Eugene Gillette; three sisters-in-law, Alice (Seneta) Ryan, Love Seneta, and Betty (Sisson) Seneta.

She is survived by two daughters: Deborah Linkoski and her husband Tom of Albion; Sheryl Jacobs and her husband Dean of Fairview; a son, John Seneta and his wife Debra (Harayda) of Albion; nine grandchildren: Alec, Kevin, Brooks and Holly Linkoski; Jill Connors Iszkula and her husband Steve; Derek Connors; Orzeko, Scarlett and Grace Seneta; two step grandchildren: Katie (Dann) Bohn and Brian Jacobs; three great grandchildren: Benjamin Orest, Eli Edward, and Ivy Elaine Iszkula; two sisters: Zola Gillette, Thelma J. Miller; a brother: Blaine Schlosser and his wife Julie (Rendulic); a sister-in-law, Vera (Seneta) Boraten; a brother-in-law, Slavko “Doc” Seneta and his wife Mary (Burger); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in Burton’s All Faiths Chapel with Rev. Robert Klingler officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
