Ellynn L. Young

Ellynn L. (Werksman) Young, age 77, of Erie passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Fairview Manor. She was born March 9, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of the late Herman and Naomi Werksman. Ellynn grew up in Penn Hills and was a 1964 graduate of Penn Hills High School. She then attended Edinboro University.

A longtime resident of Erie, Ellynn married William (Bill) Young in 1966 and had four sons. She enjoyed raising the boys and was extremely proud of them when they did good, and had no problem correcting them when needed. She liked traveling, camping, horseback riding, boating, golfing, bowling, and any other activity that got you off your duff. Ellynn’s real passion was “projects”, whether home improvements, antique restoration, or sealing the driveway. She enjoyed the vision, the actual doing, and seeing the results made her happy.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Robert Young and a brother, Ralph Werksman.

Ellynn is survived by her husband, William D. Young; three sons, William D. Young of Bridgeport, PA, Matthew Young of Sacramento, CA, and Michael D. Young of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a brother, Craig Werksman.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26^th St. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at which time Funeral Services will be held. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
