Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Shim, 82, of Erie, PA died peacefully Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Golden Living Walnut Creek, where she was a resident for the last 3 years. She was born on July 28, 1931 and raised in Rochester, NY, graduating from John Marshall High School.
Betty resided in Millcreek for over 50 years with her husband and children. She was a stay-at-home mother of five children and a member of the West Lake Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for many years. She was also a former member of St. Julia’s Rosary Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin K.C. Shim in 2005.
Survivors include five children: Michael and Rosemarie Shim of Canton MI, Kenneth and Laticia Shim of Perry GA, Karen Shim of Erie PA, Linda (Shim) Reynolds and James Reynolds of York PA, and USAF Major Matthew Shim and his wife, Trudi, of Honolulu, HI. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends of the family are invited to a Memorial Service in the Chapel at Golden Living Walnut Creek, 4850 Zuck Road, on Sunday January 19, 2014 at 2pm . Rev. Shane Thompson of Asera Care Hospice and Rev. Msgr. Gerald Koos officiating. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Burton Funeral Homes.
