Elizabeth Schick

May 22, 1931 — June 10, 2022

Elizabeth Louise “Bette” “Bette Lou” Range Schick, age 91, of Erie, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in East Hickory, PA on May 22, 1931 to the late John and Dorothy Mauthe Range.  Bette graduated from Millcreek High School, where she excelled at bookkeeping and short-hand classes. Bette was part of her senior class play and had fond memories of going to dances with her friends.

Bette’s expertise with short-hand and bookkeeping came in handy with her jobs at Marx Toys, Hayes Manufacturing, and most recently as a bookkeeper for Pyramid Industries, that later became Lamson & Sessions, which she retired from in 2001 after 36 years. She was a hard worker who enjoyed her jobs and the many people that she worked with throughout the years.

Bette was a member of the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her friends at the Cider Mill Apartments.  She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and doing Sudoku puzzles. Bette had a sharp eye for fashion and loved shopping!  She always had her hair done up and was “dressed for the occasion” everywhere she went.

Above all, Bette enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving and caring person who always looked forward to seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all fondly referred to her as “Puppy”. Whether it be on the drives to her weekly hair appointments, birthday parties, attending her grandchildren’s activities, 4th of July celebrations or visiting family on trips, she was happy to be with her loved ones.

Bette is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Greene (Garry) of Erie, and Rebekah Kingston (Steve) captain US Navy retired of Satellite Beach, Florida.  She is further survived by 4 granddaughters, Leslye Durst (Tim) of Millcreek, Jillian Miller (Chris) of Portville, NY, Kathryn Wasson (Beau) of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Morgan Kingston of Seattle, Washington; 10 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Brennen and Nora Durst of Millcreek, Sloane, Hudson, Flynn and Mae Miller of Portville, NY, and Perrin, Reese and Benjamin Wasson of Wahiawa, Hawaii; and sister-in-law, Sally Range of Erie.  She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Bette is preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy “Dottie” Mazzagotti, Linda Johnson, and Kimberli Range and a brother, Charles “Bill” Range.
