Elizabeth A. “Betsy” McGallis, age 73, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 13, 1949, in Erie, to the late Dr. John K. and Charlene Hauer Eckendorf.
Betsy graduated from Villa Maria Academy and continued her education at Erie Business Center. She was a homemaker, a preschool aide and a children’s entertainer as Betsy and Friends. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing tennis and trips to the casino. She was an avid fan of her grandchildren’s sports teams and Gannon University’s men’s and women’s basketball.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Joseph and Anna McGallis.
Betsy will forever be loved by her husband, George “Bernie” McGallis; her children, Melissa Grucza (Joe) and Gregory McGallis; grandchildren, James and John Grucza; brothers, John (Sue) and Tom (Bonnie) Eckendorf; nieces, Johanna (Lee) Eckendorf, Barbara Hammer (Corey); and nephews, Tommy (Lindsey) Eckendorf and Peter (Sandy) Eckendorf.
Friends are invited to call at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 W. 26th St, from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 11, 2022. Arrangements are under the direction of the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th St.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of NWPA, 1507 Grimm Dr, Erie, PA 16501, from whom she received a Bread Box award or ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum, 420 French St, Erie, PA 16507, where she enjoyed performing and making puppets.
