Elizabeth Grant

Elizabeth (“Betty”) J. Grant, age 97, of Erie, passed away December 12, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Asbury Ridge Nursing Home. She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on October 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Kenneth Scheppner and Dorothy Dumond Scheppner.

Betty was a graduate of Hamot School of Nursing, Class of 1946. Following graduation she worked at Greenpoint Hospital, in Brooklyn, NY, and Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital, in Jersey City, NJ. She was later employed as a Registered Nurse at Hamot Medical Center and Saint Vincent Health Center. She also did volunteer work at St. Paul's Neighborhood Free Clinic since the clinic's opening. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Grant and sister Carol Hanes.

Betty is survived by one son, Dr. Peter Grant (Marci), of Weatherford, OK, four daughters, Sharon, Erie, PA, Susan Rouch (Jerry) Columbus, OH, Bridget (Jim), Erie, PA, and Judith Grant (Will) of Columbus, OH, a sister, Sally Scheppner, of Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Thomas Scheppner, of Erie, PA, seven grandchildren, Emily Van Fosson, Nicholas Grant, Seth and Paul Rouch, Emma, Virginia and Yejin Haupt, and four great grandchildren Madison Roth, Fiona Van Fosson, and Sophia and Evelyn Grant, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private.
