Elizabeth “Betty” A. Pelletier, 76, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 as a result of a car accident that occurred on September 29th.
She was born in Erie on March 12, 1942, daughter of the late Michael “Mickey” and Katheryn Sokoloff Dolan. She was the oldest of four children.
Betty graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy and went on to receive her teaching degree from Villa Maria College.
A longtime member of Our Lady of Peace Church, she also taught at the parish school. She had a love for children. After years of teaching, she found a new calling as a Nanny.
Betty was an avid camper. She traveled and camped throughout North America with her dear friend and companion, Carl, camping at more than a hundred different campgrounds in 48 states and Canada.
Betty was renowned for her cooking and baking skills, traveling throughout North America and making friends at campgrounds, baking for them. Whether it was s'mores over the campfire, or a strawberry-rhubarb pie she baked in the oven in the motorhome, everyone always knew they would have plenty of homemade, delicious food to eat while they were there.
She also enjoyed spending time with her friends from elementary school, getting together with them monthly.
Betty's children and grandchildren were her heart and joy. There's no denying time spent at Mom's and Grandma's house was always filled with love and joy. A visit from Grandma was always highly anticipated.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Rene A. Pelletier; her dear friend, Carl Servey; and two sisters, Karen Dolan and Peggy Fling.
Betty is survived by her eight children, Anne Sharp (Walter) of Rockingham, VA, Margaret Mula (Michael) of Oceanside, CA, Michael Pelletier of Erie, Jeffrey Pelletier (Robin) of Harrisburg, PA, Daniel Pelletier of Erie, David Pelletier (Valerie) of Corona, CA, William Pelletier (Carey) of Erie, and Edward Pelletier (Susan) of Gibsonia, PA; a brother, Dennis Dolan (Lori) of Erie; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two nephews. She is further survived by several cousins.
