Elizabeth Becker

Elizabeth “Betty” Szymanowski Becker, age 89, of Erie, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 27, 2018.  She was born in Erie on November 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Witkowski Szymanowski.

Betty attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and East High School.  She worked at Wolf’s Department Store, The New Bone Corset Company and General Electric.

On May 13, 1950, she married Richard W. Becker.  Gifted with many domestic talents, she was a great cook, seamstress, interior decorator and gardener. Above all, Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard Becker; her daughter, Patricia Becker; a brother, Edward Szymanowski, Jr.; and a sister, Eleanor Szymanowski Lewandowski.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Becker Eisert and her fiancé, Ron Miller, Sr. and one grandson, Erie W. Eisert, all of Erie.  Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family and are entrusted to the care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 W. 10^th St. Erie.
