Eldon Sturrock

Eldon Vere Sturrock, age 90, passed away on August 21, 2016 at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, PA.

He was born in Waterford, PA on November 2, 1925, a son of the late Alexander Pollock Sturrock and Anna (Struble) Sturrock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Alexander Thayer Sturrock, his first wife Maxine Sturrock in March 1971 and his second wife, Gladys Brooks Sturrock in December 1995.

Eldon graduated from Waterford High School. He went on to attend Westminster College for a year. His studies were interrupted by service in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was attached to the 28th Division Medics of the 110th Infantry. He later graduated from Liberty University, earning a BS in Psychology. He was Erie County Regional Sales Tax Supervisor, Director of the Cerebral Palsy office, and then formed his own business - Art Accents.

Eldon was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 429 F.&A.M., (and previously a member of Eureka Lodge No. 366 F.&A.M.,) Scottish Rite Bodies and Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Temple Shrine for over 60 years. In the DeMolay youth organization, he was a Dad Advisor for 11 years and recognized as the Pennsylvania Advisor of the year in 1970. He was a member of the First Alliance Church. His other passions included golfing, bowling, and building model trains.

Eldon is survived by three children, Gary Lee Sturrock, Linda (Sturrock) Black, David Thayer Sturrock, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Friday from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Eureka Lodge No. 366 F.&A.M. will conduct Masonic services at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service.

Burial will be at Waterford Cemetery at 9:30 on Saturday, August 27th, 2016.
