Elbert “Mr. B” Moore, Jr., age 96 of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at home.
He was born on June 1, 1919 in Lenoir, NC to the late Elbert, Sr. and Laney (Kelley) Moore.
Elbert served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947, serving in World War II. After returning home, he traveled the states as the leader of his band ‘Mr. B and the Busy B’s’. He played the saxophone and the drums.
Elbert was also the owner of several small business in Erie including Mr. B’s Record Store, Mr. B’s Notary Service, bail bonding, trash hauling, construction work, and a car lot. He was also a tenant manager and land lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Emanuella L. Moore, two brothers, seven sisters, a niece and a nephew.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter Francine L. Moore, extended family June Holden-Curry, Boyd Holden, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St. today, Thursday July 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to services there on Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Andre Lyons officiating.
Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
