Mother Elaina M. Johnson, 62, passed away on February 27th, 2024. She was born January 1st, 1962 in Bronx, NY., daughter of Emerison and Betty M. Johnson. She was a high honor graduate of Collegiate Academy, Class of 1979, partaking in Cheerleading, Allstate Cheerleading Championships, and Track and Field.
Mother Elaina began working at Saint Vincent Hospital In 1984 then shortly started her professional career and was active within the Allied Urology Department for 35 years being responsible for delivering direct and indirect care to patients and the mentorship of the team members. Mother Elaina’s dedication to the wellbeing of her patients, close family and friends lead her to becoming the Mother of the Urology Department and Chairwoman of the Trustee Board of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted servant of God, divine counselor, and a truehearted reliable source to all.
Mother Elaina’s godly nature and community involvement tremendously gained the love and attention of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her timely purpose was to provide a stable foundation to all that found themselves weary and needed a reminder that God is the beginning and the end. She had strong desire for life and bible study and in addition to being the Chairwoman she was also a longtime member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Pastor Durfey R. Wells Jr. and First Lady Deria Wells of Erie, PA. Mother Elaina Johnson was anointed, a class act and timeless spirit together with being a mettlesome messenger of God. Her sense of humor, Advit attention to detail and wholesome saintly guidance will truly be missed. She is preceded in death by her parents and niece Marquissa Johnson,; she is survived by her son Mark Saunders Jr., sisters Yvonne Dorsey and Loretta Johnson, Brother Mark Johnson, Nieces Keyona McCreary and Jamie Dorsey, Nephew James Dorsey and Cameron Johnson, Great nieces I’siray Sanders and Jada Mcallister, Great nephews Jeremiah and Javaree Dorsey and many cousins and longtime friends Sarah Martin and Stephon Dorsey
Friends are invited to call on the family Friday, March 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Friendship Baptist Church, 1719 Cascade Street, Erie. In memory of Mother Elaina’s favorite color, the family asks that everyone wear purple in her honor. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc.
