Edward Terella

April 14, 1925 — February 15, 2016

Edward H. Terella of Millcreek passed away on Feb. 15, 2016 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Claire Terella. The two recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Jan. 31. Edward is survived by four of their five children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Edward was well known to the Erie community as he established Terella Drywall & Acoustical Company Inc. in 1949 and continued to lead the successful business throughout his life into his late 70s. His eldest son, Tom Terella, is owner of the business he operated with his father for over 40 years.

Edward Terella served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII. He entered the Marine Corps just after Pearl Harbor, serving from1942 to 1946. While on Iwo, Edward witnessed both raisings of the American Flag on Mount Suribachi. While Edward was serving in the Marine Corps, five of his brothers were also serving in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Air Corps. Each brother from Erie survived the war.

It was after military service that Edward worked in construction and began Terella Drywall & Painting Company.

Edward’s greatest passion was his family, which includes his children, Tom and his wife Linda Terella; Daryl Terella; Tami (Terella) Faram and Carrie (Terella) Henman and her husband Eric; and his son Glenn Terella while deceased is survived by his wife Beth Terella.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Angela Terella; Matthew Terella and wife Julie; Tim Terella and wife Megan; Rick Terella and wife Desiree; Huntir Terella; Jaclyn Henman; Amanda Henman; Sophia Faram and Hannah Henman, and great grandchildren Jocelyn and Nathaniel Terella.

Family and Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) and are invited to attend the service there at 3pm.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
