Edward Charles Perrye, Sr, age 71, formerly of Girard, died on Friday September 5, 2014 at Wesbury Senior Living in Saegertown.
He was born in Cumberland, MD on September 27, 1942, a son of the late Glendon and Mattie Arbutus Metz.
Edward graduated from Strong Vincent High School and attended Penn State, earning his drafting certification. After serving in the US Air Force, Ed worked as a tool and die maker at Tesco Transportation. He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post 494. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and in his earlier years, racing cars on a dirt track. Ed was quite the jokester and will be remembered for his wit and great sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Tom Metz and a sister, Jeanie Shank.
He is survived by two sons: Edward C. (Cheryl) Perrye, Jr. of Conneautville and Eric M. (Keira) Perrye of Girard; one brother Glen Metz of WV; one sister Barbara Carswells of TX; a brother-in-law Ed Shank; and his 1st wife Debbie Perrye; five grandchildren: Corrine, Connor, Carly, Courtney, and Logan Perrye.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard on Wednesday from 4pm until the time of a prayer service at 7pm. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Send condolences at www.BurtonFuneralHome.com
