Edward Abramczyk

January 14, 1925 — November 16, 2014

Edward F. Abramczyk, age 89, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 peacefully with family at his side.

He was born in DuBois, PA on January 14, 1925, a son of the late Frank S. and Blanche Galgan Abramczyk.

Edward graduated from Erie Tech High School and then went on to serve in the United States Army Air Corp. As a master electrician, he was employed by and managed Rinderle Electric for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Julia Church for over 60 years and a member of The American Legion, Millcreek Post #773. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and loved travelling with his wife Pat from Erie to Florida and looking forward to seeing the kids and grandchildren along the way. They especially enjoyed visiting and spending time at the Outer Banks, NC and Florida beaches.

His greatest passion was being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather and he loved spending time with his family. Always grateful for everything he had, his patience, selflessness and intelligence were a true inspiration to the entire family and many others whose life he enriched.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Patricia in 2012; his brother Joseph Abramczyk; and two sisters; Florence Pozzutti and Wanda De Dionisio.

Edward is survived by five children; Nancy Kulhanek and her husband Keith of Erie, Douglas Abramczyk and his wife Karen of Virginia, Jeff Abramczyk and his wife Petra of Florida, Erin Grack of Erie and Ed Abramczyk and his wife Deb of Virginia. He is further survived by thirteen grandchildren: Dustin , Erin , Jayme , Rachel , Tiffany , Tim , Jeremy , Emily, Hayden, Molly , Sara, Ali and Jordi; six great grandchildren; Jacob, Jack, Ben, Noelle, Samantha and Reagan. Also surviving are his two sisters Mary Ann Abramczyk and Francis Winiecki and his two brothers, Alois (and wife Marge) Abramczyk, and Chet Abramczyk and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Edward’s children would like to express a special thanks their sister Erin for providing loving dedicated care and companionship to their father over the last year.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Friday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Church 3750 Westlake Road Erie, PA 16505 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
