Edmund Makowski

November 28, 1929 — July 2, 2015

     Edmund A. "Muni" Makowski passed away on Thursday July 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at home.  Edmund was born in Oil City, PA on November 28, 1929, one of nine children of the late Frank and Barbara Jamos Makowski.  Edmund graduated from Oil City High School in 1949.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. A graduate of J.H. Thompson Barber Academy, he owned and operated Ed's Barber Shop for many years.  Edmund, his wife Dolores, and their family ran the Dairy Treat Ice Cream Shop from their home.  Edmund was an avid gardener, fisherman, and bird lover, especially enjoying hummingbirds. Along with his family he volunteered cleaning the peninsula for many years.
     In addition to his beloved parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Stella Przybielski, Helen McDevitt, and Mary Smith; and brothers, Stephen, Joseph and Chuck Makowski. 
     Edmund is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dolores Fiscus Makowski; seven children, Dave Makowski (Shani), Don Makowski (Suzi), Rita Figurski (Chet), Mary Esfanaji (Mash), Carol Card (Harry), Nancy Makowski and Edmund Makowski; eleven grandchildren, Shamina, Sean, Joshua, Jessica, Bethany, Stella, Yashar, Stephen, Brittany, Rebecca and Blake; and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sister, Lottie Schutz; brother, John Makowski (Jane); sisters-in-law, Emma Makowski and Joan Makowski; and many nieces and nephews. 
     Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Edmund at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 W. 26th Street, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 3 p.m. immediately followed by military honors conducted by Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.  A private interment will be held.  Memorials may be made to Maria House Project, P.O. Box 10682, Erie, PA 16514; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
