Edith Geist McClure age 98, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.
She was born in DuBois, PA on October 4, 1916, a daughter of the late Irvin and Celia Geist Copenhaver.
Edith was an inspiration to her family and loved spending time with them. She loved God, and loved life.
She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of DuBois and past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #119 of Ashland, KY.
She lived at St. Joseph apartments for many years where she was an active volunteer, and was loved by everyone who lived there. She enjoyed flea markets, watching football and NASCAR racing and playing cards with her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew (Andy) Thomas McClure II.; her two granddaughters, Edith Greco and Tracy Fischer; a great grandson, Dylan Fischer; and two sisters, Virginia Allen and Vesta Hand.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Thomas McClure III and his wife Patricia of Wethersfield, CT; two daughters, Suzanne McClure of Erie, and Karen Stahlman and her husband Leonard of Fairview; four grandchildren and their families, Kimberly Altschulver of CT, Pamela Swantko of NC, Lyn Reed of IL, and Thomas McClure of AZ; nine great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Saturday from 2:00p.m. until the time of service at 4:30 p.m.
