Edith M. Trampenau Benson, 95, formerly of Ellsworth Avenue, died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Sarah Reed Senior Living. She was born on February 2, 1922, in Erie, daughter of the late Frederick and Monica Martz Trampenau. A lifelong resident of Erie, she graduated from Academy High School, Class of 1940, had been a longtime member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church, and more recently was a member of Luther Memorial Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Kenneth Benson, Sr., in 2006; two sisters, Charlotte Boehm and Dorothy Bauer; and a brother, Theodore Trampenau.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Benson of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; a son, Lloyd K. Benson, Jr. and wife Virginia of Foster, Rhode Island; two sisters, Vera Barna and Jean O'Camb, both of Erie; a brother, Howard Trampenau and wife Lorraine of Erie; two grandsons, Brian Benson and wife Amelia Gold and their children, Joshua, Mikayla, Noah and Rebecca, all of Englewood, New Jersey, and Mikel Benson of Portland, ME; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Richard A. Moyer, Chaplain of Sarah Reed Senior Living, will officiate. Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sarah A. Reed Senior Living, 227 West 22nd Street
