Eddie Lee Smith Riley, age 87, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, December 10, 2015.
She was born in Dunnellon, Florida on February 23, 1928 to the late Alzo and Alberta Harrison Smith.
Eddie Lee attended Lakewood High School and was selected class vali Victorian her senior year, then continued her education at Edinboro University majoring in Social Work.
She worked in numerous fields including Hammermill , a social worker for GECAC and many years as surgical technician at Hamot.
Eddie Lee was a loving and committed Christian mother and adored her family and friends. She loved being social, enjoyed watching classic movies, shopping, crocheting, and was an avid cook and baker.
She was a faithful member of St. James AME Church for over 60 years, a dedicated member of the missionary board and in all aspects of the church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Riley Jr., and her 12 brothers and sisters.
Eddie Lee leaves to cherish her memory, her five sons: Anthony, Lorenzo, David, Lawrence, and Gregory Riley; two daughters; Linda and Diana Riley; A sister, Ruth Smith Twiggs of Hernando, FL and Sister in Law, Unice Williams of Baltimore, MD. Ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends may call at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, 236 East 11th Street on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. All are invited to the home going celebration Thursday December 17, 2015 at 11 a.m., conducted by Pastor James Keaton.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery
