Earl Erdman

Earl H. Erdman, age 80, of Girard, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Erie Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Erie on June 5, 1934 the son of the late William and Alice Gillingham Erdman.

Earl enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Randolph. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he moved to San Antonio, Texas. He spent 45 years working at local dairies until his retirement, when he then returned to his hometown of Girard. Earl was a life member of the VFW Venango Post 169.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hope Tyler Erdman; a brother, William Erdman and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his friend and companion Connie (Licsko) Bible; a daughter, Janet Abel and her husband Russell of Texas; sisters: Dorie Brown and Dottie Burek of Union City; grandson Gus Abel of Texas, step daughters: Gale Carver and her husband Gary of Texas, Sylvia Kingston and her husband James of N.Y and step son, Frank Tyler and his wife Deloris of Texas; step grandchildren: Josh Abel and family, Melinda Ranjel and her husband John, Sylvia Taquino and her husband Tristan, and Katherine Vogel and her husband Ken. He is further survived by great grandchildren: Noel, Cora, Alexis, Angela, Amy and Zachary, as well as their families.
