E. O. "Red" Swearingen, 76, of Erie and formerly of East Springfield, PA, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at LECOM Senior Living Center. He was born on July 16, 1941, in Leavenworth, Kansas, son of the late Elmer and Eva McCaine Swearingen.
A 1959 graduate of McLouth High School, McLouth, KS, Mr. Swearingen was a truck driver for EE Austin & Sons in Erie for 21 years retiring in 2005. He was an over the road truck driver previously.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Swearingen, a daughter, Charlene Hollis, and a brother, Frank Swearingen.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Smith and husband Tony of Quinlan, TX and Cheryl Swanson and husband Matthew of McKean, PA; two sons, Jason C. Swearingen and wife Elsie of Edinboro, PA and Gerret Swearingen and wife Amanda of Waterford, PA; a sister, Donna Parks and husband Melvin of Kansas City, MO; 17 Grandchildren, Hanna, Emily, Jason, Daniel, Havana, Gabriella, Olivia, Harper, Scarlett, Bianca, Ashley, Timothy, Cherrie, Chrystal, Janel, Mark Jr. and Cayenne, 5 Great-grandchildren, Maranda, Kiran, Alyssa, Summer and Autumn; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a Time of Sharing starting at 6 p.m. Private burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
