Dylan Oakes

Dylan H. Oakes, age 24 of Girard passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 as a result of a motorcycle accident in Fairview Township.

He was born in Erie on July 15, 1998 a son of Kevin H. and Pam Hermsdorf Oakes of Girard.

Dylan was a 2016 graduate of Girard High School and graduated from Edinboro University this past May.

Prior to this he had paid his way through school working at McDonald’s. Over the course of his 6 years working there he built up long lasting friendships.

He had recently started working as a public accountant with Schaffner Knight Minnaugh Company in Erie.  He loved doing taxes and was looking forward to becoming a CPA.

Dylan loved living life in the fast lane. Riding his motorcycle was one of his passions.  He was an avid fan of the Steelers and Penguins. Dylan enjoyed his Xbox, and hanging out with his friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Oakes; maternal grandparents, Robert and Judith Hermsdorf; and twin sisters at birth, Hayley and Jenna Oakes.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Julia M. and Lauren T. Oakes; grandmother, Marilyn Oakes of Lake City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home 525 Main St. East Girard on Thursday 3 to 5 and 6 to 8pm and may attend services there on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Kevin Ackerman officiating. Burial will be at Girard Cemetery.
