Dr. Rudolph (Rudy) Lascek

Dr. Rudolph (Rudy) John Lascek EdD, age 87, of Erie, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at Manchester Commons after an extended illness. He was born in Albion, PA on January 26, 1935 to the late John and Josephine Lascek. Rudy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957. After his time serving our country, he worked in the Girard School District for 30 years in many capacities- Science Teacher, Ass’t Principal, Principal, Ass’t Superintendent. After his retirement from Girard, he became an Associate Professor at Edinboro University supervising student teachers. Rudy was a member of St. Jude Apostle Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He loved fishing, woodworking, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Kay Lascek, his children, Terri Carlos, Tim Lascek (Linda), Tom Lascek (Pam), and Ted Lascek (Michelle), by his step children Mary Friedman (Mike), and Thomas Payne (Leslie). He is further survived by 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, John, Paul, George, and Veronica Lascek, and Josephine Tercho. He is further preceded by two grandchildren, Vincent Lascek and Daniel Lascek.

The family would like to thank the staff at Manchester Commons for their care and concern.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Jude the Apostle Church 2801 West 6th Street, Erie, The Second Harvest Food Bank 1507 Grimm Drive, Erie, or The Emmaus Ministries Soup Kitchen 218 East 11th Street, Erie.

Friends are invited to call on the family Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. West Ridge 3801 West 26th Street, Erie. Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon, at Saint Jude the Apostle Church 2801 West 6th Street, Erie. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on YouTube on the St. Jude the Apostle Parish channel.
