Dr. Larry Gauriloff passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Larry was born in Erie, PA, on November 12, 1953 to Martha (Karuba) Gauriloff and the late David Gauriloff.
Larry graduated from Oberlin College in 1975 with a degree in Biology. He went on to receive his Ph.D in Botany from the University of Georgia
Larry retired after 28 years from Mercyhurst University. He was a member of the Biology Department and was a pre-med advisor. He built the pre-med concentration to one of the largest concentrations on campus. He was responsible for countless students being accepted into a variety of medical graduate programs. Larry's caring nature offered a place of comfort and inclusion, which is why so many of his students returned years later to share another chat.
Larry's love for knowledge will live on through all of the students he engaged and inspired through his years of teaching.
Larry will be remembered for his unique charm and always having a smile on his face. It was important to Larry for his friends and family to feel seen and always showed his love with a kiss and a hug. Larry, "Uncle Larry" to all, loved nothing more than a quiet evening with friends in his beloved garden surrounded by the beauty of his plants, flowers and mosaics.
Along with his mother, Larry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia (Patty) Flanagan; daughter, Anna (Bryan) Caparuscio, and grandson, Miles, of Hollidaysburg, PA. He is also survived by brothers, Frederic (Karen) Gauriloff and David Gauriloff both of Erie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Wednesday at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
