Dr. Curtis C. Bannister

Dr. Curtis C. Bannister, age 68, of Erie, died Saturday, September 2, 2023, while camping in Ripley, NY.

Born in Erie on September 1, 1955, he was a son of the late Richard G and Virginia Akerly Bannister. 

Curt graduated from General McLane High School, Behrend College, and Life University for his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine.  He owned Neck & Back Center of Erie with his wife Stephanie.   He was very proud of their business and the work of helping others out of pain. 

Curt will be remembered for living life to the fullest.  First and foremost was the love he had for his daughters.  He was a great dad, always willing to help them whether that be with school projects, coaching, or just being there for them.  But he also held his “couple time” with Stephanie as a daily priority.    He loved learning and wasn’t afraid of the hard work it took to learn something new.  He enjoyed his time in Cat Island, diving, fishing, and just relaxing.   Hunting and camping on his 400-acre property in Ripley, NY was an annual event.  He was a risk taker and excitement followed him.  

Curt is survived by his wife Dr. Stephanie Coursen Bannister; his children Olivia and her fiancé Brennan, Basil, and Fina Bannister; brothers: Douglas Bannister and his wife Diana, of Missouri, Bryan Bannister and his wife Sheryl, of Edinboro and their children Charlie and Allan Meeker, and Andrew Bannister; and sister, Susan Oglevee and her husband Robert, of Erie and their children Erin Pawek, Kimberly Day, and Casey Bowes. 

Services will be private with burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.  Arrangements by Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Downtown, 602 West 10^th Street.
