Douglas Stewart

Douglas Stewart (TuTu), age 63 of Erie, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday June 14, 2014, following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Jackson, TN on September 15, 1950, son of the late Silas Manus and Mattie Lee Stewart.

Douglas worked at the former Erie Malleable Iron 12 years before his disability.

He was dedicated to his wife, family and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He also loved listening to music, watching westerns, and recording movies.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Gerald dean Rodgers of Erie, one son and two daughters of Erie.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and dedicated wife of 36 years, Thelma Faye Simmons Stewart of Erie; five sons: Doug Stewart, Kevin Stewart, Derek Stewart, Ian Stewart and Maurice Stewart; four daughters: Timika Stewart, Tiffany Stewart, Natasha Stewart and Yolanda Stewart; 22 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three brothers: Thomas Stewart, Leroy Stewart of Erie Willie Stewart (Sandra) of Jackson, TN; a sister, Joanne Highe Dancer (Shelby) of Fort Worth, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St. on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to a service there at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor James Harris officiating.
