Douglas Henrich

Douglas E. “Burny White” Henrich age 62 of East Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Erie on April 26, 1957 a son of the late Kenneth E. and Martha Horner Henrich.

Burny was a graduate of McDowell High School and received his associate’s degree from Gannon College.  He was mostly known for his career in music, but before he left to pursue his passion for music, he worked alongside of his father at the family business.

He was in many bands, and mostly known for his band the X-Whites. While in NYC he had the opportunity to meet and play with famous musicians. He shared the stage with members of the New York Dolls, Sylvain, Jerry Nolan, Dead Boys; and opened up for Joan Jett and REM. While doing the Jerry Lewis Telethon in NYC he met Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis. Tom Hanks wore Burny’s band pin on his suit coat while filming a sitcom. Burny sat and had a cup of coffee with Steven Tyler; he has so many stories from NYC to last a lifetime. His music will live on forever.

He loved being on stage, and sharing a show with his brother Biff Henrich (who is frontman for the band The Vores from Buffalo, NY) meant everything to him. Burny was a legend and a “One Of A Kind” man.  Soon a biography will be done on Burny’s Life.  So many stories about the life of a music man, it will tell stories of famous and not so famous musicians.

Burny was a friend to many, he was a loyal loving husband and a great dad to Hope, Faith, Jeffrey and Nick. He loved his “Little Family” as he would say. He was so proud when he bought his first home. He loved sitting by a fire, with his guitar and dog, Battery. He sat out there daily- playing music, watching the birds and writing lyrics, preparing for a comeback in 2020.  He had many, many friends, and when you met Burny, you knew you had a friend forever. He loved his wife, Lisa Marie, and would often say “Greatest Love Story Ever”. He was so proud of his home and family, he wanted a family and home before he died, and he would say “ I did it; mom and dad would be proud!”.  Doug also had a strong faith, and he was so grateful his dear friend, Dr. Mark Milligan, who was a big part in getting baptized, which made his faith even stronger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Burny is survived by his wife Lisa Alex Henrich; two sons: Jeffrey A. Pohl and Nicholas D. Pohl (Sara) all of Erie; two daughters: Faith M. Pohl of IL; and Hope M. Pohl at home; a brother, Biff Henrich and his wife Lauren of Buffalo, NY; a sister, Valarie Greeley and her husband Tom of Huntington Beach, CA; He is further survived by a grandson, Cameron; as well as many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Battery.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St., Girard, on Friday from 2 to 7pm and are invited to attend services there Saturday at 11am.
