Douglas Boyd, Jr.

August 17, 1931 — February 12, 2017

Douglas Boyd Jr. age 85, of Millcreek, and formerly of North Kingsville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Fairview Manor.

He was born in York, Pa on August 17, 1931, a son of the late Douglas Sr. and Winniefred Amelia Comley, Boyd.

He graduated from Academy High School in 1950 and attend Michigan State University on a full cross-country scholarship.

Douglas, with his wife owned and operated Sno-White Dry Cleaners and Tuxedo Junction in Erie and North Kingsville, OH for over 40 years.

His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He was an avid sport fan especially the Cleveland Indians.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Munson Boyd; a granddaughter, Nychole Rose; two brothers, David and Barney Boyd; and a sister, Winnifred Smiley.

He is survived by five sons, Thomas Boyd and his wife Christine of Erie, Scott Boyd and his wife Char of Erie; Douglas Boyd and his wife Mary of Erie, Gregg Boyd and his wife Peggy of Erie and Mark Boyd and his wife Ruby of Clearfield; 13 grandchildren: Thomas, Jeffrey, Sarah, Leah, Aaron, Natalie, Ashley, and Stephen Boyd, Viktoria Colon, Jami Rose, Justin Rose, Riley Duffy and Sophia Braden and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Mountain and her husband Tom of Wattsburg and Millicent Byers of MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Sundberg officiating.

Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in North Kingsville, OH will be private.

Memorials may be made to CORE Center for Organ Recovery, 204 Sigma Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Mr. Boyd was a heart transplant recipient. Thanks to the gift of organ donation, his family enjoyed 20 additional wonderful years with him.
