Dorothy Czerlewicz Bulling Szymanski, age 90, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born March 20, 1933 in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Stanley and Francis (Kosiorek) Czulewicz.
Dorothy attended Holy Rosary and Academy High School. She was a member of St. Judes Church. She was a talented artist whose murals once decorated “Wonderments” in Findley Lake, NY. During Christmas time, many of her art pieces can be seen at the World of Music. Dorothy enjoyed having dogs as pets and breeding Shetland Sheepdogs. She always had a loving and caring heart for everybody. Dorothy previously loved gardening, but oil painting always remained her true love. She always loved to give her paintings to family members, along with her prized flowers. Dorothy leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Steve Szymanski, who is a retired Marine master sergeant. They both enjoyed flying “Space A” to several different places in the states and to Europe together on military aircraft.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Arnold and Margaret McKeen.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; two daughters, Laura Jacoboski (David) and Linda McLaughlin (Michael); two brothers, David Wierzchowski (Nancy) and Stanley Shelly (Noli); five grandchildren, Christopher, Jeffrey, Brian, Jena, and Amanda; as well as six great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Carter, Sam, Josie, Ellis, and Charlie.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn-Scott West Ridge Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St, at Powell Ave., on Tuesday, November 7 at 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
