When Mom heard the party was postponed, she decided to leave West Lake Woods, and go find Jack, Callahan, and Rita and have her own festivities!!
She was born June 16, 1923, in Erie to Fred and Helen Carlson. She attended Academy High School where she met the love of her life, Jack Scheppner. She went on to attend Denison University where she had a major in English and minors in French and Geology. After college she went to work for her father at the Paper Box, and American Tinning & Galvanizing Co. In 1947, Mom and Dad were married, and they spent the next 54 years enjoying each other's company in Erie and Naples, FL, until Dad passed away in 2001.
Mom was known for her keen intelligence, and quick and dry wit. She was a voracious reader, master crossword puzzle solver (NY Times Sunday puzzle in an afternoon) and expert catalog shopper. Full of generosity and hospitality, Mom and Dad were known for their great parties. Mom was always welcoming, and her home was always open for her daughters, and all of her "Chickadees ".
They have three children, Jacqueline "Robin" Scheppner of Erie, Kathleen Scheppner and her spouse Jerri Lynn Quigley of Salt Lake City, and Brian "Buzzy" Scheppner. Buzzy is our special gift from God, and we were heartbroken when it was determined that the best future for him would be away from home. Nephew Robert Goring, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Erie, and Bert Ward of Naples, FL.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two BFF's Jackie "Callahan" Kline, and Rita Byers.
The family also offers their profound gratitude to West Lake Woods for such kind and compassionate care these past two years. All of the people who work, and live there love Mom, and it showed as she loved all of them. Another special thank you to Laurie Laver for her unwavering commitment to Mom's well being.
