Dorothy E. Neal, age 96, of Springhill Senior Living, and formerly of Oakmont Ave. in Millcreek, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born in Roanoke, Indiana, on February 22, 1916, the daughter of the late Clyde and Dessa Jones Young.
She attended school in Roanoke, Indiana.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (now joined with the Community United Church) and the Westminster Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Merle J. Neal in 1971; and a sister Cleo Matthias in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Karlita Konnerth and her husband Arthur, of Tampa; a son LaMar J. Neal and his wife Pamela, of Erie; four grandchildren, Rebecca Kisgen and husband Jamie, Rachel Konnerth, Hilary Neal and Alison Neal; and a great-grandaughter, Sophie Kisgen.
Dorothy and her family want to acknowledge the kindness and caring of the staff at Oakview Personal Care and Forestview at Springhill Senior Living. The staff became a second family to Dorothy.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 10am until the time of the service there at 11am with Rev. Jean Reidel Associate Pastor at Community United Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
