Dorothy Mcvey

Dorothy “Peach” L. McVey age 80, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Media, PA on July 18, 1937, daughter of the late George William and Dorothy Fairlamb Lentz.

Peach graduated from Media High School and Penn State University with a BA in Education. She taught Elementary Education in Wayne, PA. Once her children were born she began her most important career, being at home and caring for her family.

Peach was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to making her family’s life very special. She especially enjoyed holidays and making them memorable for her family. 

She enjoyed decorating her home, quilting, the beach, and traveling to their winter home in Florida.  

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Lee H. McVey; four children, Jeff McVey and his wife Devon of Philadelphia, J. Todd McVey and his wife Kathleen of Cleveland, Jana Babb of Erie, and Jenni McVey of Oregon; seven grandchildren, David, Matthew and Ellen McVey; Tanner, Kristin, and Lily Babb, and Evelyn McVey; and a brother, George William Lentz, Jr. and his wife Joan of Westchester, PA.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26^th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayside Presbyterian Church 1208 Asbury Rd. Erie, PA 16505.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wayside Presbyterian Church.
