Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy Erford Johnson, age 99, of Springhill Senior Living Community, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Enola, PA on January 30, 1914 daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Orris Erford.

She was a 1933 graduate of Enola High School and a 1937 graduate of Temple University.

She was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the board of the Florence Crittenden Home, a member of the Hamot Aid Society for over 50 years, and treasurer of the Hamot Aid Shop for 23 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Erie Homes for Children and Adults and previously served as president. She was a member of the Carrie T. Watson Garden Club, and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Auxiliary.

She played golf at the Kahkwa Club for many years and was an avid bridge player.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Atty. Herbert J. Johnson, Jr and her son, Herbert J. Johnson III.

She is survived by her son, Ronald E. Johnson and his wife Claire of Carlisle, PA; her daughter-in-law, Linda of Laurel, MD, five grandchildren, Nicole Robertson and her husband Darren of Virginia Beach, VA., Barbara Johnson of Laurel, MD, Stephen Johnson and his wife June of Pasadena, MD, Michael Johnson and his wife Lauren of Havertown, PA, and Mother Stephania (Priscilla Johnson) of Brookline, MA. She is further survived by five great grandchildren Madelyn Robertson, Lillian Johnson, Hope Johnson, Zachary Johnson, and Jamie Johnson.

Services will be held at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul at the convenience of the family.

Inurnment will be in the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul Columbarium.
