Dorothy Hlifka

Dorothy Ruth (Morey) Hlifka, age 91, formerly of Erie, died peacefully at her home in Boise, Idaho on Saturday, May 4th.

She was born in McKeesport, PA on November 28, 1921.

Dorothy was married for 57 years to Joseph Francis Hlifka, who passed away in Jan. 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son Allan Richard in 1995.

She is survived by her daughters Sheila and Donna, her sons Joseph and David, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy lived and worked most of her life in Erie, where she enjoyed working as a beautician and managed her own as well as other Beauty Shops. She went on to become a Cosmetology Instructor at Ora Jean Beauty School, O.I.C., Tech Memorial High School, and Erie County Technical School from which she retired in 1984. She was also an Examiner for the PA State Boards.

After her husband passed away Dorothy moved to Boise, ID in July 2000 to live with her two daughters.

Following her cremation, services were held for those who knew her in Boise on May 18th. Family and friends in Erie who wish to pay their respects may call at Burton's Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St. on Wednesday, May 22nd from 4-7 PM. A 10 AM service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery Thursday May 23rd where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband.
