Dorothy Gould

Dorothy “Jay” Gould, age 90 of Erie, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Saint Mary’s Asbury Ridge.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Dr. Jay R. Gould and Dorothy Schumacher Gould Meyers.  Jay attended St. John’s grade school, Mercyhurst High School and the University of Indiana.  She was a journalist with the Denver Catholic Register upon graduation from college, and spent her career as a registrar with Calumet College in Whiling, Indiana.  Jay was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved all things sports.  She enjoyed the outdoors: hiking, fishing, bird watching, biking and traveling.  Jay was a member of St. Luke’s Church as well as St. John’s. 

In addition to her parents, Jay was predeceased by her step father W.W. Meyers, her cousins Gerald Schumacher and Jean Harris Sydow and extended family.  She is survived by many friends, cousins and ‘therapy’ dog Midus.  A special thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge, and the AseraCare Hospice team for her wonderful care.
