Dorothy “Dottie” Billings Cook, age 77, of McKean, passed away, Friday January 16, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Center.
She was born in Pittsburgh, on December 6, 1937, the daughter of the late Hugh and Dorothy Labenz Calvert.
Dorothy was a school crossing guard, but her real job was being a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of the Irish Cultural Society; loved cooking and traveling. Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society and the Sunshine Group. She had also been an usher in Las Vegas for 14 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Koenig; a sister, Grace Fay and a brother in law, Patrick J. McCarthy, Sr..
Dorothy is survived by her son Michael D. Billings and his wife Pattie of Edinboro; three grandchildren: Mikaela, Monica and Michael E. Billings; two sisters: Irene McCarthy of Pittsburgh and June Calvert of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th and Powell Ave., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 8880 W. Main Rd., McKean with Father Mark Nowak, celebrant. Memorials can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
