Doris Townsend

Doris A. Townsend age 92, of Millcreek, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born in Erie on July 12, 1925 a daughter of the late Anthony and Alice Fisher Dyminski.

Doris graduated from Academy High School in 1943 and then went on to work at Bucyrus-Erie and later at John Law Reality for many years.

She enjoyed swimming and fishing. She especially loved baking and made Christmas cookies for everyone around the holidays and always had a beautiful flower garden. Doris worked at the voting polls at West Ridge Fire Department for over 20 years.

Doris attended First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant and was a longtime member of the Sportsman Athletic Club in Millcreek.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William A. Townsend.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Townsend; a son, Bill Townsend (Debbie Carr) of Lake City; a grandson, William A. Townsend; and a great granddaughter, Vivian Rose.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26^th Street (at Powell Ave) Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
