Doris Stanley

Doris Wood Stanley age 92, of Girard and formerly of Erie, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at

Independence Court of Erie.

She was born in Erie on February 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Glenn E. and Grace Cooney Wood.

Doris was a graduate of Harborcreek High School and worked for over 21 years with the Erie

Insurance Group as an endorsement Specialist.

She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and was most famous for

her pumpkin and apple pies. Doris enjoyed life and spending time with her family, and she will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers: George and James Wood and a

sister Helen Schilling.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan C. Howland of Erie, and Anne D. Smith of Kansas City; six

grandchildren: Lisa (Scott) Sackett, Glenn Rogers, Angie (Steve) Sachs, Troy (Michelle) Duncan, Chad

(Janie) Younger, and Kelly (Kathy) Johnson; 14 great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law Marie Wood; and

many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th St. Erie on Thursday

from 4 to 6pm at which time a prayer service will be held.

The family wishes to thank Independence Court of Erie and AseraCare Hospice for their care and

compassion during her stay.
