Mrs. Doris Phillips, age 82, of Erie, the widow of Charles Edward Phillips died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness.
She was born in Macon, GA on December 15, 1935, the daughter of the late L.C. and Willie Pearl Cleveland, Sr. and lived the early years of her life there, graduating from high school in Macon, GA. Doris was always a beautiful and loving stay at home mom. She moved to Erie more than 42 years ago, in 1976.
She was a proud, loving and longtime member of Grace of Calvary Baptist Church for more than thirty-five years. Doris also was an avid reader, loved challenging her luck with scratch off tickets along with enjoying her Tuesday night bingo.
Doris was absolutely adored and loved by all her children, family, extended church family and many, many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Phillips and a grandson, Jamar Phillips.
Doris is survived by a brother, L.C. Cleveland, Jr., three sons, Charles (Mary), Tommy, Maurice and three daughters, Crystal (Eddie), Ardensia and Tina (Ira).
Friends may call at the Grace of Calvary Baptist Church 5542 Perry Highway Erie, PA 16509 on Monday November 19th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dr. George H. Alquist Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16502. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
