Doris Hillstrom

     Doris E. Minor Hillstrom, 93, of Erie and formerly of Palmetto Bay, FL, died Mon., Aug. 27, 2012 at Springhill Senior Living Community.  She was born Aug. 1, 1919 in Erie, daughter of the late Earl Aaron and Daisy Maude Ketchum Minor.  A graduate of Academy High School, she worked at a downtown Erie dress shop and during WW II she worked in the office of General Electric.  Dorie was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Corry Memorial Hospital.  She was active with her children, serving as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts.  She enjoyed flower gardening, playing bridge, golfing and bird watching.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Hillstrom in 1970; a son, Carl A. Hillstrom; and a brother, Ralph Emerson Minor.
     Survivors include a daughter, Christine Hillstrom of Palmetto Bay, FL, a grandson, Coleman A. Hillstrom of Chicago, IL; a brother, Elwin E. "Red" Minor of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
     Private interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St.  Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.
