Donna Swager

Donna Mae Case Swager, age 86, of Erie, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 21, 2016.

She was born in Erie on December 8, 1929, daughter of the late Wendella Carlson Case and Harold P. Case.

Donna graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1947. After graduation, she embarked on a work life that spanned nearly 40 years, the majority of her career being spent in supervisory positions with IBM-Service Bureau Company.

Outside of work, Donna was a member of The Church of the Covenant. She enjoyed numerous activities with friends and family including tennis, bridge, live theater and movies. Most of all, Donna loved to travel and to dance the night away with her beloved husband, Don. The annual Cotillion was a can't miss date on their calendar.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Mark Schauerman and brothers, James Case and Robert Case.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Donald C. Swager; daughters Gail Sykes of Denver, CO and Joy Harvey (Thomas) of Germantown, TN; daughter-in-law, Ellen Schauerman of Fairview; step children James Swager (Kathy) of Lincolnshire, IL; Thomas Swager of Cincinnati, OH and Karen Tuminello of Erie. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Joy Sykes Leonard, Matthew Harvey, Lauren Harvey, Christopher Schauerman, Anne Schwartz, Amanda Pfeiffer, Donald Swager, Blair Swager, Erin Swager, Elizabeth Tuminello and Carolyn Tuminello. Additionally, Donna is survived by 5 great grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers Richard Case (Gina) of Fairview and David Case (Jeanette) of Houston, TX.

Friends are invited to call upon the family at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home at 3801 West 26th, (at Powell Avenue) on Friday, February 26 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and attend her service there on Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m.

Burial will be private at Erie Cemetery.
