Donna Mae Locke Powell, age 90, died at her Millcreek home on Monday, March 27, 2023.
She was born January 4, 1933 at home in Platea, Pennsylvania to Russell and Dolly (Payne) Locke.
As a teenager, she enjoyed skating at Shadeland, hanging out with cousins Marilyn and Marlene, and playing with her dog Penny. When she was 16 years old, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, and she spent the rest of her life serving Him.
Donna graduated from Albion High School in 1950, and married the love of her life, Robert Powell. They were married for 72 years. She and Bob were members of the Federated Church of East Springfield, where she taught Sunday School and served in the Bus ministry. Donna was a generous woman, always giving whatever she had to meet the needs of others. She worked with her husband’s family business, Strong Mobile Homes, and renovated mobile homes, turning many “sows’ ears into silk purses.”
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond, Burdett, and Dan.
She leaves behind her husband Bob; daughters, Connie (Edward) Huntley and Joni (Jim) Morgan; Sister, Joyce (Bob) Eyerly; her grandson Seth (Jenny) Huntley; great-grandchildren, Katie and Drew Huntley. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends are invited to Donna’s life and home going to Heaven, calling hours will be at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St E, Girard, PA 16417, on Thursday from 4 pm until the time of service at 7 pm, Son-in-law Rev. Ed Huntley officiating. Burial in East Springfield Cemetery will be private.
