Donald Watkins

Donald L. Watkins, age 73, of Erie, passed away December 11, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Hospital.  He was born in Erie, PA, March 2, 1948, son of the late John and Irene Wright Watkins.

Donald was a 1966 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School and attended Penn State Behrend.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam and the Cold War.  He was a truck driver for Arrow Transportation which later became Swift Transportation.  Donald was a member of Summit Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Penelope A. Bliss Watkins, and daughter-in-law Helena Gallant Watkins,

Donald is survived by two daughter, Melissa and Andrea Watkins, of Erie; a son, John-Andrew L. Watkins (Corinne), of Waterford, PA; five granddaughters, Catheryne Watkins, of Erie, Cheyenne Treece (Andrew), of Cassandra, PA, Victoria Frost (Michael), of Wesleyville, PA, Dakota Watkins, of Erie and Payton Hood, of Erie; great granddaughter, Graylynn Watkins; and great grandsons, Michael Watkins and Waylon Frost.  He is further survived by his sister, Debora Savelli, of Pittsburgh, PA and several nieces, great-nieces and cousins.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m.  All CDC requirements including wearing a mask will be observed. Interment will be private at Erie County Memorial Gardens with full military honors being rendered by the Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.
