Donald Laine

Donald W. Laine, age 87, of Erie, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Brevillier Village.

He was born in Erie, on October 16, 1929, the son of the late Francis and Jenny Klippi Laine.

Don attended Millcreek High School. He served in the U.S Army. Don had worked in manufacturing at Ervite Corporation for over 40 years.

He loved fishing, bowling, yard work and coin collecting. Don had been a member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He will be missed by his beloved cat, Scooter.

Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Hammer Laine; his daughters, Karen Smith and her husband Richard, Janet Himes and her husband Harold “Chicky” and Kristin Laine (Michael Jobe); and son, Robert W. Laine and his wife Denise, all of Erie; seven grandchildren: Michael, Lindsey, Ryan, Kyle, Brandon, Nicholas and Alyssa; and three great granddaughters: Hailey, Addison and Alexis. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th (at Powell Ave) on Monday from 4pm until the time of sharing at 7pm. with military honors.

Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery at a later date.
