Donald W. Koppelman, age 85, of Erie, passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
He was born on March 17, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI, a son of the late William and Ida VanBuren Koppelman.
Donald served his country in the United States Air Force before earning a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Michigan State University and was a member of the mechanical engineering fraternity Pi Tau Sigma. He worked for the American Sterilizer Company, Ian Martin, Inc., Erie Fence, and First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant before retiring in 2008.
Donald was a hardworking and loving husband and father. He was a civic minded man and lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. Donald was a softball umpire and member of the Erie Runner’s Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan V. Hartman Koppelman; his son, Richard Koppelman (Scottie Freeman), of Erie; his daughter, Diane Parshall, of Montana; grandchildren, Sarah, Hunter and Katie of Montana and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 4th at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 250 West 7th St., Erie, PA 16501.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16502.
Memorials may be made in Donald’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
