Donald F. “Red” Jackson age 89 of Fairview passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.
He was born in Erie on March 19, 1933, a son of the late Paul and Margaret Ohmer Jackson.
Red graduated from Millcreek High School in 1951 and served two years in the U.S. Navy as a member of squadron VC-3 aboard the USS Kearsarge. He started his work career in his wife’s family business, Lakewood Pastry for 15 years, and then was a cabinet maker with Robertson Inc. for over 37 years until his retirement. Red was a member of Holy Cross Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and helping others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David and a brother, James Jackson.
Red is survived by his wife Joan of 68 years; his children, Donald Jackson, Jr. (Connie) of Fairview, Kim Alter (Paul) of Florida, Julie Jackson of Erie and Laurie Hudson (David) of Fairview; he is further survived by 7 grandchildren, Brian, Dan, Katie, Carly, Emily, Christopher and Taylor; as well as 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Saturday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. with Rev. Thomas Tyler officiating. Inurnment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
