Dolores Dunsmore

April 7, 1932 — September 6, 2014

Dolores Spanggard Dunsmore, age 82 of Erie, passed away on Saturday September 6, 2014 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge. She was born on April 7, 1932 in Erie, PA daughter of the late Andrew and Lucille Gorney Spanggard.

Dolores attended Strong Vincent High School and was a devoted homemaker and crossing guard for over 20 years at Lakewood-Ridgefield. She was a member of St. Julia Church and enjoyed gardening, ceramics, quilting, and babysitting her grandchildren. Family always came first with Dolores.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2013 as well as two brothers Andrew and Timothy Spanggard and a sister Maureen LiFica.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Dunsmore Jr. (Rosemary) and Michael Dunsmore (Norrie); a daughter, Sheila Smith (Eric); her grandchildren: Melissa Fuller (Matt), Ashleigh Sontheimer (Adam), Steve, Mike (Linz), Drew and Adam Dunsmore, Jeff Smith (Nakum) and Kari Smith (Fiancee Blaine Molle); five great grandchildren, Alex and Ashton Sontheimer, Joshua and Jacob Fuller, and Noah Molle. One sister Judy Kennelly. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) today Sunday September 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Monday at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia’s Church, 3750 West Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505, at 10am presided by Msgr. Bruce Allison.

Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
