Dolores Olesky Buell age 91 of Erie and formerly of Fairview, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her residence at Westlake Woods.
She was born in Harborcreek on November 8, 1930, the fourth and last child of the late John and Julia Chlopek Olesky. After graduating from Harborcreek High School in 1948, she worked for Lake Shore Lumber for several years. She finally settled in Erie and found a career as a bookkeeper at Erie Forge and Steel and took great pride in her work. This is where she met Guy Buell in 1956, were married on September 19, 1959 and left work there at the end of 1961 to deliver their only child Julie.
She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church for 30 years and served as church treasurer for 17 years. She was also a member of the Erie Maennerchor Ladies Auxiliary, where she was bowling secretary for several years. Dolores loved traveling, gardening, bowling and sporting events. She enjoyed trips to the casino and racetrack, sports betting, as well as playing with her card girls for 30 years. Above all she was exceedingly kind to those she revered and offered a helping hand to friends and strangers alike.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Guy of 55 years, a daughter Julie Jarvi; two brothers: John and Alfred Olesky; and a sister Irene Edwards.
She is survived by her grandson Benjamin Jarvi; 4 nieces: Alice Johnson, Leslie (Eric) Bohrer, Barb (Dave) Amos, Jean (Dale) Cowger; 3 nephews: Jack, Phil and Ray Olesky; a step-son Chris (Carol) Donoghue and son-in-law Matt Jarvi.
Friends may attend a memorial service at the Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4264 Avonia Road, on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11am. Burial in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Westlake Woods for their wonderful care and love for the last 10 years.
Arrangements may be entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard.
Memorials may be sent to Fairview Presbyterian Church in her honor.
