Diane E. Ehret Lewis, 73, of Erie, died April 2nd, 2013 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born June 11, 1939 in Erie, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth R. Ingro Ehret Dearborn Briggs. She was a 1957 graduate of McDowell High School and was a chosen member of District Chorus where they recorded the performance on an album. Diane was a great singer that could harmonize on any song. In her later years she performed Karaoke at Waldameer.
Diane was a member of the Vernondale PTA. She organized all the roller skating parties and was a room mother for her children and then for her grandchildren.
Diane and her husband ran a motorcycle racetrack in Waterford in the early 1970's. Diane recalled many fond memories as the scorekeeper. Per Diane's Mom, Liz Briggs...."That Dunny can drive anything!" She owned her very own yellow Yamaha which she rode to pick up her daughters from school. This made her a very "cool Mom" indeed! She learned to crochet when she became a grandmother and made all the grandkids blankets and sweater sets. Diane was a mom to everyone that knew her and opened her home to all with love and laughter. She brightened everyone's world as much as the flowers she loved to work in the soil. Her home had an open door to anyone that needed help or a place to stay. With her cheery, sunny outlook on life she gladdened the hearts of many and no one who knew her ever walked away a stranger. She will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Albert V. Lewis; two daughters, Annette Washam and Lauri E. Lewis-Costello both of Erie; a brother, Larry H. Dearborn and wife Kathy of Union City; a sister, Barbara Dearborn Evans and husband Scott of Cranesville; three granddaughters, Angela Pasquarello and husband George Jr. of St. Augustine, FL and Tiffany Blanks and Amanda Sills both of Erie; four great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Joshua Pasquarello of St. Augustine, FL and Gabriella Blanks and Aiden Slater of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Samuel Ehret preceded her in death.
