Diana Bohl

Our loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend, Diana Goetz Bohl, 69, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Sunrise Senior Living at Presque Isle Bay from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

She was born April 9, 1943, in Tiffin, Ohio, daughter of Karl and Dorothy Goetz and was preceded in death by her father and by her stepfather, Fred Theller, and stepsister, Sue Moritz. Her mother, Dorothy Theller of Tiffin, Ohio, survives. She is also survived by her husband Adrian of Erie, daughters Kirsten of Barnesville, Ohio, Joanna Horn (Russell) of Charlottesville, Virginia, and granddaughter Eilidh Horn of Charlottesville, her brother David Goetz, MD, (Kathleen) of Morgantown, West Virginia, sisters Karen Deighton (Gary) of Delaware, Ohio, Rebecca Theller (Larry) of Battle Ground, Indiana, and Heidi Martin (Rick) of Indianapolis, Indiana, stepbrothers Larry Theller (Rebecca) of Indianapolis, Indiana and James Theller (Mary) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Diana graduated from Heidelberg College and Northwestern University and taught in the public schools of Ohio and Illinois prior to moving to Erie where she served on the faculty of Mercyhurst College, retiring in 2008 from the Education Division. Her love of music, art, and travel took her to Kodaikanal International School in India during 2000 -2001. Diana was active in a number of professional and local organizations concerned with serving those with learning difficulties. She was active at the state and national level with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD). She was also active in the Pennsylvania Association of College and Teacher Educators (PAC-TE). Locally, she served on the boards of the Gertrude Barber Center and the Achievement Center.

Arrangements are under the care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502.

There will be no public viewing and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at Sunrise and the VNA Hospice for their care and fellowship and requests that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
