Dewayne Mccleary

January 18, 1942 — February 19, 2021

DeWayne P. McCleary, age 79 of McKean, passed away at his home after an extended illness on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born in Madison Township, Clarion County on January 18, 1942, a son of the late Charles and Mary Mittiga Dunkle.


He had lived most of his life in Rimersburg but moved to Erie later where he was a 1959 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. DeWayne was a Vietnam veteran and served in the United States Air Force. DeWayne had retired after 30 years of service at United Parcel Service. DeWayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his friends. Some of his most memorable trips were to Montana and Colorado where he got to hunt elk with family and friends and his trip to Las Vegas with his son-in-law and daughter.


DeWayne is survived by his son Brian McCleary (Janet) of McKean; a daughter, Lorrie Baney (Richard) of Erie and a grandson Alex Baney (Stephanie) of Seattle, Washington, and a sister Cynthia Kennedy of Erie and a brother William (Butch) Dunkle and his wife Lois of Erie along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Abiding by DeWayne’s wishes, there will be no visitation of services.


Private inurnment will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
